Bergen is famous because of the rain. It's raining a lot in Bergen, and I mean a LOT. Last year it was raining 85 days in a row. Despite that, a lot of people love Bergen. The tourist for example, are crazy about this tiny, wet city on the west coast of Norway.
Maybe it's because of the old wooden buildings and the spectacular scenery. The combination of the North Sea facing the city and of course the mountains that are surrounding Bergen, are attractive to foreign eyes.
According to the people here, seven mountains are surrounding the city, but people are still not agree about how many mountains there are. Well, those who are living here are know to be a little crazy too. When it stopped raining after 85 days last year, many people were disappointed because it was not a new record.
Sometimes it is mentioned that Bergen is a country itself. Maybe it's true. I don't know. I have only stayed here for 12 years. Norway and Bergen are not member of The European Union. Frankly speaking I don't know why. My only answer is that Norway is a small country separated by The North Sea from the rest of Europe. And we have the oil. We are rich and independent.
When the people voted against joining EU in 1994 it was like the majority said "fuck you" to the rest of Europe. Don't take it personal. It's Norway. We are informal. Don't blame us for being outsiders.
